Steps in Doing Research
- Step #1 - Go To Clever on Trumansburg Links. Click on the "District Page" and scroll down to the "High School Library Databases" section.
- Step #2 - Start with the Opposing Viewpoints or Issues & Controversies databases. Be sure to sign into the databases using your Google login. (Note: The first time you login to a database, you may have to enter a username and password. After that, Clever will remember your credentials. To find login information for each database, hover over the question mark icon next to the database name.)
- Step #3 - Enter a keyword related to your topic. Check the search box drop down menu for any potential subject headings that may work for your topic.
- Step #3 - Find one article related to your topic. Use the sidebars to find more related articles and more subject headings to expand your search.
- Step #4 - BE SURE TO SAVE CITATIONS AS YOU GO. Copy and paste them alphabetically into a "Works Cited" page in Google Docs.
- Step #5 - If necessary, look into the Britannica School and ProQuest SIRS Knowledge Source databases for additional information.
- Step #5 - Use the Gale Power Search database for very specific searches. Use Boolean operators as needed (see the review sheet called "Boolean Searching" under "Additional Resources" below.) Ask me for help as needed.
